Banff National Park
Downtown Banff |
June 2 Foggy & drizzly morning, 45 degrees as we headed to the
village of Banff...several “to dos” on our list.....first stop
the tourist information center. We then took a walk down main street
and discovered the McDonald's that someone had told us had free
WIFI...needed to update our blog. So we planned to eat lunch there
and do the blog posts for May 31 & June 1.
Bow Falls |
After lunch, we drove to Bow Falls..another beautiful area.
The next stop was Sulfur Mountain where we planned to
ride the Gondola to the top! YIKES! If anyone knows me well, they
know I don't really relish heights, but I really did want to go to
the top of this mountain just for the scenic view it provided. By
this time, the fog had lifted and we boarded the gondola about 3pm.
Well worth it!! Absolutely amazing pictures and we have included a
few here.

Focus Gary! |
Heading back to our
campground in Lake Louise we decided to take the scenic route 1A,
which, according to everyone we talked to would be abundant with
wildlife. However, after almost an hour's drive on this slow, curvy
road we had not seen anything wild, but did get a few beautiful shots
of Castle Mountain.
Right before our turn off
1A towards Lake Louise what should appear but a grizzly bear! Wow,
that made the whole trip worth it and Gary got some good shots of it. We were about 50 ft away on the road.
Decided to try Lake Louise again on our way back
to see if it was less icy today. It definitely was and we got some nice reflection pictures..
We were at Lake Louise last year w/o our mh and drove through some campgrounds and were afraid we could not get our 42ft Camelot in a space. Which campground were you guys in?
