Alaska- Homer Day Three
Sunrise 4:52am Sunset 11:27pm

June 30 Saturday Gage & Reid were up at 6:30am to catch a water taxi to Tutka Bay to climb Grace Ridge Trail. The first knob elevation gain is 1745ft and the summit is 3145ft. This trail is rated as moderate to difficult. 2.5 hours to the summit and 6-8 hours for the entire trail. The taxi dropped them off about 8:30am and was scheduled to pick them up at 6:30pm. They did the whole thing between 8:30 and 2pm. So they spent the last few hours resting on the rocky beach in the sun waiting for the taxi to arrive. It was a beautiful day, bright sun, blue skies. They met one other hiker on the trail up, someone from Italy. They said it was a great hike, warm even though there was snow in some places.

  1. Pretty impressive that they were able to complete the trail 4 and 1/2 hours early!! It certainly looks beautiful.

  3. Wow that is so neat I would have loved to do that. That might be one of my bucket lists. Looks like the boys are having a great time. Krissie
