CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA, April/May 2013

We were in Charleston from 4/30/13 to approximately 5/8/13, but I am just posting these in Jan. 2014 as we are starting our current travels to Tennesee, Lousiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California and back There will be more updates to our blog as we travel for the next 4 months! HL Hunley - first submarine to ever sink a battleship -sunk the USS Houstatonic in Charleston Bay in 1864
            This is replica of the sub with the crew of 8 men
Unfortunately all aboard died after this mission - the sub was raised from the sea in 2000 and is submersed in water to preserve and prevent oxidation --it was 40ft long, 3.5ft wide and 4 ft high
