NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANNA JANUARY 13, 2014

Lunch at Mother's on a rainy day in New Orleans

Inside Mother's...lots of pictures on the wall of  famous visitors to this restaurant including George W. Bush

Good day to visit the WWII Museum..three large buildings with personal accounts and many interactive stations...with an introduction 4D movie "Beyond the Limits" that brought the reality of  WWII's devastation to the viewer...65,000,000 lives lost in the world.

This is one of the interactive sights at the museum..actual replica of inside the USS Tang a submarine used in WWII.  This was a simulation of its' last mission.  Only 12 crew members survived and we each were given a card with a picture of an actual crew member and assigned his station to man in the sub during this simulation.

Inside the sub where the torpedoes are loaded to fire.

I was manning the torpedo firing station..had to fire torpedoes as commands were issued.

B17 in museum...also hanging from the ceiling were a Corsair, P51, B25 and a Torpedo Bomber...very impressive

At one of the many oral history stations..recordings of personal accounts from WWII veterans and others who lived through this era. Very moving memories of a difficult time.
