NATCHEZ, MISSISSIPPI JANUARY 10, 2014

First stop today was for lunch at the King's Tavern..as you can see from the historical marker this is the oldest building in Natchez...it was a place for the boatmen to eat, drink and pick up their mail after their long trip south and before their long walk home.

This is the current sign on the tavern.  I love "spirits of all kinds"

A view from the outside.

Inside the Tavern..we felt like we had stepped back into history...very pub-like. Rick, the resident manager/bartender is a mixologist.  He teaches classes here in the art of mixing cocktails. There is also a liquor store upstairs.

They had a great modern menu...flatbreads of all kinds, delicious healthy salads.  We had a delicious lunch...even Gary the Snail liked it!

After lunch we headed back across the bridge to Louisianna and headed out to Ferriday...which is about 7 miles from Vidalia.   Our destination was the Delta Music Hall of Fame.   This is a museum that honors musicians from the Delta area.   And, believe me, there are a lot of famous names in there!

Ferriday's biggest claim to fame is that it is the birthplace of these three famous cousins...Mickey Gilley, Jerry Lee Lewis and the Rev. Jimmy Swaggert.

An iconic photo...do you recognize these guys?  If not, from left standing is Jerry Lee Lewis, Al Harris, and Johnny Cash.   At the piano is none other than a young Elvis Presley.   This was taken at a recording in Sun Studios in Memphis.

In the center is the director of the museum and next to her is our tour guide.  What great ladies...we had an absolutely wonderful tour of this museum.  If you are ever in this area, this is a must stop!
