This is the northern most terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway just south west of Nashville and our plan was to drive the whole parkway from here to Natchez, 444 miles, in about 5 days staying along the way. However, as you can see from picture above, there was ice and a dusting of snow and for the first ten miles we kept encountering solid icy patches around every bend. We decided to leave the parkway and drive on Interstate 40 west and 55 south until we reached at least 30 degrees. Well, we drove over 500 miles this day until Jackson, Mississippi where it was finally 30 degrees. We stayed the night at the Swinging Bridge RV Resort --resort HAH! Nothing to write home about so I won't! |
